Hey village1,
I remember reading in EQ about her voc chain. Unfortunately, all that I retained was that it was was a 1272 pre that they used. You might be able to find more details at http:\\www.eqmag.com here's the link:

The Matrix ( who recorded Complicated, I'm with You, Sk8ter boi) used a Neumann U87-Neve 1272- EL8 Distressor-Apogee AD8000 on her voice in a wood-paneled room at rented house on their tracks.

Cliff Magness (who recorded the newest single) used a Rode Classic Tube mic-Trident Console pres or dbx mic pres-dbx 160XT with Pro Tools mic modelers on his tracks. Cliff Magness is a Glen Ballard former sidekick and Glen primarily uses an AKG C12VR on his artist's vox.

Keep in mind you are hearing the fabulous mix of Tom Lord Alge who mixes on an SSL at South Beach Studios in Miami with loads of outboard gear (Daking, UREI, Focusrite, Neve, Distressors, etc).

Just makes me wonder what would happen if the Tom Lord Alge would sit back and discover what Pro Tools really can do!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks for the link.

I found it really interesting.

I find it really strange when these articles/interviews get so vague, like "yeah, the mic went into an Avalon, which we love, followed by the Focusrite",
Avalon what?
Focusrite what?
mic, what mic?

Fair enough if people want to keep some secrets, or are one of these AE's that really just don't take in what things are called, but surely the writer should notice or acknowledge the point...

Everyone loves their AD8000s too-glad I didn't prematurely dump mine when HD came out....
