Default Static During Playback MP9+FastTrack Pro OSX - Please Respond

Running both OSX Lion Mac Book Pro and Windows 7 Gateway laptops, when I use MP9 for playback on the Win7 setup it plays perfectly, but the same project on my Mac has distortion during playback.

The same FastTrack box is used on both systems. Update 9.0.5 is installed.

I see a number of complaints about the issue on various boards, but have not seen a response from Avid about the problem. I'd prefer to use my Mac for music production so can you fix this or what?

Thanks.
