Hi Friends !
I am using latest version of pro tools (2021.10) on a windows-10 laptop and my windows laptop is compatible to run Windows 10. It has been one month since Windows 11 came out and I am struggling to find information on whether Protools is compatible with windows (unlike some other DAWs we have already confirmed their compatibility). Anyone running pro tools on Windows 11 and what is your experience. I will really like to upgrade to the latest Windows OS and want to ensure I do not have any hickups with pro tools. |

Avid's requirements for "official" support/compatibility have always been far more stringent than most DAW developers so I wouldn't expect it for a few more months. I've always found Pro Tools to be just as reliable before it was "supported" as any other supposedly "supported" DAW on a new PC version. Plug-ins are typically where problems turn up for me.

There's a few early adopters of Win11 here on the DUC; do a search and you'll find several posts about W11. Seems like everything (Pro Tools, video engine, audio interface drivers, plugs) that worked in W10 is still working with W11. First take a boot drive image (Macrium Reflect Free or similar) of your working Win10 rig, & then try the upgrade to W11. Tell us how it works for you!

I know you are looking for personal experiences running Pro Tools on Windows 11, but just for future reference, here is a link to the Pro Tools Operating System Compatibility Chart

It seems normal here.
In fact, besides some UI changes, I find windows 11 to be identical to 10 in every way.. all the same audio apps and games work identically! PT 2021 seems fine, other than the "not ideal" DPC latency of the Razer. The Lenovo has no such issues. I wonder if win 11 actually IS worse in latencymon, cause razers usually pass. Anyway, the app works.

Old thread I know, but working great here. Only bug so far is that the Comments field in the Edit Window is not showing text while you type, only after pressing Enter. Typing comments via the track name dialog works fine.
Now if Avid only fixed the Windows UI, removed all the Vista/XP style borders, updated the File dialogs and got rid of the MDI/parent-child windowing design to allow us to freely move the Edit and Mix on multiple screens... (What if the Win top menu was permanently in the Edit Window, as a stopgap workaround?)

Same advice I give regarding any and every update: feel free to give it a go. Just have a backup plan if it goes sour
