-9171 and -9172 errors with Pro Tools HD 10.3 on HDX

Would this be an Avid problem or an ATI/AMD Problem?

It's only a hunch but that's the only thing that I know changed for me (new graphics card) after which I feel the errors started. And I feel I have tried everything else.

It might be something in the driver. Then it would definitely be an Apple problem. There is no driver available from ATI otherwise I would have tried installing that. I don't have my old GPU card anymore or I could have tried reverting to it just to see if the errors disappeared.

Anyone that still has his/her older graphics card from before the HD 5770 upgrade with a spare 30 minutes to give it a try? It's worth a shot.

The above sentence becomes a routine in my case too. How Avid expect people to move to Pro Tools 11 when the foundation is unstable. I am becoming more cautious about the future. Avid does not want to lose users trust. I realize that my very old Pro Tools 5.1.3 is more stable than my brand-new Pro Tools HD system 10.3.5

The errors are truly becoming a part of my routine... :-( I get them all the time even if I use no audio inst. at all. Cross my fingers for PT11...

It is a constant battle with these errors in PT 10.

Let's hope indeed that PT 11 kills the bugs.

I have high hopes the bugs won't be present in PT 11 as the program has been rewritten for most part. My guess is we'll lose these errors but exchange them for others. But that's probably to be expected with a dot O release.

We've got 3-systems running Native and 1 system running HDX-2, all on Lion without any of these problems. We started with MtnLion but reverted back and did several system changes, i.e. turning OFF notifications permanently via terminal, etc.

The Native system in my controlroom is so stable, I can even burn CDs with Toast or soundBlade in the background without any complaints from ProTools. We've also got all of our buffers set to 64 samples or less...

We've been running this way since late October.

Sounds good. I could re-install Lion but I think I'll wait for PT11 and see..

Same issue here. Also have a 5770 and it seems this error has been coming up ever since 10.3. I don't remember having that issue with the launch version of 10. And with the iLok website down I haven't been able to test this more extensively. This error also seems to come up only on HD systems as I haven't seen it once on my MPB but I see it all the time on the main rig with HD Native. It also doesn't seem to care about CPU load though it happens more often when I have more cores dedicated to ProTools, oddly enough.

I'm hoping this gets fixed in 11 because this is just making it escrutiating to work.

The errors are getting very annoying. As soon as I have some downtime I'll see if it has anything to do with having three monitors connected to the 5770 card.

Maybe if I reduce the strain on the graphics card the HD Native card has less problems and I see less errors. It's an act of desperation. At this stage I'm willing to try everything. Have already hung up garlic and placed a scarecrow in the studio to no avail.

Any chance of seeing bug fixes in a 10.3.6 soon Avid?
