Default HD2 7.4 PowerPC to MacPro PT9 HD, which way?

Suggestions on which direction to take for an upgrade?

I'm still on PowerPC G5 PT 7.4, HD Core + HD Accel cards

Should I buy a new Mac Pro / Magma Chassis / PT9HD Upgrade

or go Native on a new Mac Pro and sell the old system?

Cheers!

Well, I'm running into serious lack of processing power on the old PowerPC with only 4GB Ram.

I am not looking to go away from HD but to get on a new Mac Pro and HD9.

Also, I am using Reason for a production environment and cannot get the new version except for on an intel mac. (Reason also eating up all my processing in bigger sessions)

Basically, im going to get a new Mac Pro, should I go the Magma chassis route or what would be the ideal situation for my setup?

I'm working primarily in mixing, mastering and production. Not too much multi-input recording.

Talking Re: HD2 7.4 PowerPC to MacPro PT9 HD, which way?

oh yeah, I fortgot to say:

I am in the same boat. I would go Magma Chassis and stay with PCI-X.
Cards are getting cheaper, and you can the go even up to HD 4,5,6,7.....

almost all the people I know did it that way!

Thanks!

That's what I may end up doing.

Anyone else want to chime in?

I am in the same boat as you, but I am going into this route: a used MacPro 8Core (around $2,000) and trading my cards and my blue I/O to a HDX an a new interface for ($6,000).

HD PCIe cards are dropping in price so much, you can have an HD2 PCIe for around 2400 or less!

Used HD Native cards are fetching around 1800.00.

No reason today really to go to HD9, HD8 is sufficient IMO.
