Default MIDI questions?

I am trying to midi an Akai MPC drum machine to a Korg Triton keyboard. I have been succesfull in getting them to work together ( Sequencers syncing up ). But, is there a way to midi the drum machine without having the sounds "spill" over on to the keys of the keyboard. For example, if I want to program a beat on the drum machine, then want to add sounds from the keyboard, on some of the notes, I am hearing the kick, snare, hi hat, etc. from the MPC over the sounds of the Triton ( If I turn the controller option off on the keyboard, I do not hear the sounds from the keyboard ). Please offer advice. I am new to MIDI and appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jeff

Default Re: MIDI questions?

check if the connection is like that ...
001>midi out >korg midi in >>korg's thru >>akai midi in (thru>in for the chain biz).

also if the korg is the mother key
connect the korg's midi out to the
001's in.
in PT check if the 001 is checked on
the input devices (midi)

make sure that both unit does'nt use the same midi ch.

hope that it answered

Sandman thanks for advice. I would like to know without the 001 in the equation.
My korg I would like to run as the mother key, then the MPC playing the beat ( Or whatever else I add ). I have the korg midi out to the mpc midi in. Sync is working fine, but sounds are still playing simultaneously with the keys of the korg. Can what I am attempting work.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Thanks again
