Default Play / stop flash bug...

Hey everyone, long time, no post. I hope everyone has been doing great! I also hope it's okay for me to still post in the LE forum even though I just "went HD" (HD2 Accel on my old Athlon 64 X2 4200 system).

My question is, are any of you who have experienced the "play / stop flash" bug in the past seeing better results with the 7.4cs1 update? I have been getting that error (where you hit play and instead of playing, the play button and then the stop button quickly flash and then no play ensues) for a while now, on both LE and on the new HD setup (7.3). I just installed 7.4cs1, and I'm hoping it will improve things in that regard.

Any ideas regarding what causes this?

Thanks, and happy holidays.

Wireless adapter? As in "wireless keyboard / mouse"?

I am using a Logitech wireless mouse / keyboard, so if that's a potential problem, I can look into a wired setup, although it would be less flexible with my system.

I also have a Frontier Design Tranzport hooked up to my computer, which is also a "wireless" accessory. Wouldn't want to have to ditch that though...

As far as LAN, I have two LAN ports on the mobo, but they're both disabled. I also have an mLAN setup (Yamaha's firewire interfacing) for my digital boards, but the play / stop flash big still occurs even when that is NOT installed on the computer, and I don't notice any increase in occurance of the bug with it installed, not installed or installed and turned off in the system tray applet.

Thanks for your suggestions.

wireless adapter refers to wireless lan card that
connects to wireless modem for internet connection

this is what causes my PT to play up in this way

i wouldn't expect it to be your mouse and keyboards or the Frontier Design Tranzport

although with PT and compatability it wouldn't surprise me if it was

Oh... sorry.

My DAW PC is "dedicated", and doesn't go anywhere near the Internet, and doesn't have any wireless network set up on it. I have other computers for that, and if I need to do an update or a authorization, it gets done on a dedicated internet machine, then virus checked, then I sneakernet it to the DAW, where I enable the anti-virus software, check it again, then disable the anti-virus and install it. A pain to be sure, but a lot safer. So I guess the source of my play / stop flash issues if different than yours.

Again, thanks for your help.

I havenīt encountered this "play/stop" bug in 7.4 at all and Iīve used 7.4 quite a bit by now , on the same system. 002R or Mbox2. No cs1 here yet.

I had - and still have- this bug in some 7.1 sessions. No idea where itīs coming from, no net or networks here. I revert back to 7.1 or 7.3 every now and then because 7.4 canīt run my old, large sessions on the same computer , 7.4 being much heavier to run by itself on my DAW. I use Ghost and removable system drives for easier life.

Thatīs one nasty bug, I thought it was gone for all in 7.4.

Nope... I just experienced it a little while ago, even on 7.4cs1 HD Accel (Athlon 64 4200 X2, 2 GB RAM, Asus A8n-SLI Premium mobo, ATI X550 video card).

On the site somewhere I saw a "what's fixed in 7.4"(or was it 7.3?) page that mentioned it's fixed on many, but not all systems, and that Digidesign is still investigating it...

Still happening here occasionally.

I can't consistently replicate it, though; happens at random times.

Clearing out the windows prefetch occasionally helps, but not always.

Same here. Sometimes it happens when I'm starting from the start of the session (or two bars into it - after the count in), other times in the middle of the session somewhere as I'm working on edits or tweaking automation or whatever. There is no consistency or pattern to it that I've been able to ascertain.
