Hi,
MY RIG: Mac studio (M1 - OS monterey) - connected to internet via ethernet input Mac. Pro Tools HDX card in external chassis connected to Mac. DAD DX32 converter, connected to Mac LAN via satechi adapter, ethernet to USB-C. Avid Dock and Avid Control on iPad: Avid dock, ethernet to unmanaged ethernet switch, TP-link SG105S. iPad with wifi off, via USB-C to ethernet adapter into the switch. Switch connected to Mac LAN via ethernet adapter, erhernet to USB- C. Running DADMAN, EuControl and Pro Tools Ultimate on Mac. All software downloaded and installed two weeks ago. MY PROBLEM: When giving static IP to DX32 connection, DADMAN seems to work perfectly. Good. I used 192.168.3.1. I gave the switch on USB LAN 2 (with Dock and iPad connected) DHCP. Suddenly everything worked. I checked IP settings in Mac Network panel (USB LAN 2 = 169.254.183.147 (subnet 255.255.0)). In EUControl, Dock was assigned with 169.254.175.48:49168 and iPad/Avid Control with 169.254.51.16:588379. Then I started to program a soft key on Avid Dock in EUControl. I returned to Pro Tools to test the key, which didnt work. Then I noticed that Avid Control was «blank» - the not connected to eucon icon was not visible … but no info and no response from actions in DADMAN. I restarted an hoped for the best … not working. Dock and iPad visible in eucon my surfaces, but no response/monitor profile from DADMAN (monitor profile assigned in eucon). Checked Macs network panel, the switch on USB LAN 2, had a new IP: 169.254.165.78 (yesterday 168.254.183.147), but in EUControl, the Dock and the iPad had the exact same IPs as before the restart … Sorry for the long post … Is this perhaps my problem? The switch and IP issues? Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? |

I don't know for certain if this will fix your issues. However, I was running into the same type of thing and had to turn off "Limit IP Tracking" in the network preferences for my ethernet adapter. Now I have a very stable connection.

Either switch all devices to DHCP (and they will negotiate addresses automatically or streamline your setup to manual IPs in the same address space. (all units on 10.10.1.X for example) but then you need to connect to your router on a separate interface so that it won't conflict with the manual IPs. Try everything to DHCP first. When there's no router on the Eucon segment the network will auto-negotiate 169.254.x.x addresses automatically that will possible change every day. This is normal. Without a router the mac pref might stay yellow signalling that there's no route to the internet and that they have self-assigned addresses but that won't matter for Eucon. Alternative: Plug all EN devices (incl the cable to your internet router) into your switch and only one connection from the Mac to the switch. Then again set everything to DHCP (incl the mac) and your internet router will manage the addresses for you. Also read this: https://resources.avid.com/SupportFi...ines_v2022.pdf

For DADMan I presume you set a Static IP at both ends(the Mac adapter and MTRX. 192.168.3.1 and ? Does DADMAn still control the MTRX when EUCON doesnt? Are you saying you see the Dock and AC in EuControl? In the All Surfaces and My Surfaces lists? Did you do a migration to this computer? |

Thank you all for answers.
This solved my problem: Bought a new router with MU-MIMO technology (I went for tp-link AC 1900). Then in network panel on Mac, I changed the order of connections: ethernet (from internet) at the top, then router with iPad and Dock connected, and then connection for DX32. Mac, iPad and Dock is all connected to the new router in port 1-3. Router on DHCP. DX32 static IP. Doing this, everything suddenly worked, included dock soft keys programming in eucon. |
