Pro Tools 2020 totally impressed!
I'm in the middle of a new computer build but just to give an idea of what I've been using, I've been using a custom built Core Duo 4 Core, 8 Gigabyte memory computer. Yes, there are more components as well as brand names but I just wanted to say that ever since Pro Tools 2018, I've been getting CPU spikes even when I wasn't using a lot of plug-ins. So I downloaded Pro Tools 2019 and the same happened. I decided to try Pro Tools 2020 (latest version) just for laughs because I knew my Super Computer would be finished soon.
To my surprise, there were no CPU spikes and the stability that I had once enjoyed was back. Going thru my files I decided to try playing some of my more plug-in intensive files and they played just as they should have. I understand the system requirements but I do tend to push things to the limits sometimes. I haven't built a new computer since 2007 so as DAWs got more powerful, I have been running on fumes. Anyway, my new computer will have the capability of having 128Gbs of memory so that won't be an issue but I just wanted to say how impressed I am with at the very least the stability of the new version of Pro Tools. Thanks |
