Default Apogee Rosetta 800 W/ Big Ben

Hey Guys, Please check sig below, Anyone else running the Big ben in this configuration,I have been running it this way for about a year, Prior to that I just had the Rosetta 800 via ADAT, PT set to external clock. When I added the Rosetta 800 I heard a huge difference, However.. When I added the Big ben I tried to hear for improvement but did not notice anything huge. As a matter of fact I was a little dissappointed, I thought I would hear more improvement. After some recent reading on another post here, maybe I would better off just using the clock in the Rosetta 800 and selling the Big ben. Any thoughts on this!!!!!

Thanks, Tracy Lowery

What speakers are you monitoring with? The only pieces on that list you are clocking with the big ben are the rosetta 800 and the digi001, maybe the benchmark, which i'm assuming is feeding your monitors. I don't really see the point in a master clock unless you've got more digital outboard to clock. Apogee claims themselves the big ben only makes slight improvements when clocking the 200 and 800. If you can't hear a difference then its not making a difference, trust your ears.

Whats the benchmark for anyhow, why not just monitor through the rosetta? I'd dump the benchmark, the big ben, buy some mics or something. Maybe treat your room.

John, Thanks for the reply, As for the Benchmark I really like it and it helps to translate mixes in other areas. My monitors are a weak link Event 20/20 BAS but I am used to them.I will get something better down the line. As far as the Big Ben it is also clocking a TC Electronic Finalizer for quick masters to clients. I send it out via/ Adat 3&4 and return via/ Spdif. I think I will keep the Big Ben for the HD Rig that I will have down the line as well. I am going to take it out of the chain and see if I like it better using the clock from the rosetta 800. Thanks again!!!
