Motor Fader Firmware gone
Hi Guys,
One morning I turned on my D-Command and the faders didn't move. Faders=> on. But they won't move. They won't calibrate when turning D-Command on. In the firmware menu (in the soft buttons area) I had firmware for D-Command, firmware for Xmon but no firmware version for "Motors". Two days after (all desk working BUT the faders) they would come to life again, the same way as they left. This secuence happened twice with months in between. I tried restoring the firmware by deselecting the D-Command and ethernet peripherials. A firmware update window would open warning me it would update firmware from one version to exactly the same (I don't remember which one now). And after a couple of minutes, some ethernet connection problem would cancel the process. I tried changing the ethernet cable for a cross one wired directly to the Mac with no success. Any clue on what's going on? I couldn't find anyone in the forum with the same problem... thanks. |

Re: Motor Fader Firmware gone
From what you describe I think you may be looking at a faulty FMC board (Fader Motor Controller board) or possibly a faulty comm board. Is it a main unit only or a fader pack as well ?
The location section in your post indicates you're from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Get in touch with tech support for Latin America : http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...57&itemid=4876 or contact your dealer. Make sure you have the following info at hand when you do : - Serial number / date of purchase and registration info (name / company name the D Command is registered to ...) so they can check the warranty status of the unit - provide them with the troubleshooting you have already done, which should include : * utilities mode : faders don't move in any of the fader test modes and refuse to be recalled. * firmware reset : if you haven't done so yet : hold down the solo/sel/mute switches on the first channel strip of the unit while you power up the unit. After that go into the peripherals menu and press OK (no need to reassign the controller just press OK). What this does is temporarily reset the unit's FW to factory default. * system info : OS / PT version etc ... What isn't clear in your post is wether this only happened a couple of times and it is now fine or wether your faders are still dead now ? At what point during the firmware upgrade does it go wrong ? How for does the process bar get ? If it progresses like 1/3 or halfway then I think this may confirm a faulty FMC board. It is in that point of the firmware upload process that you should see the faders move so if that's where it goes wrong then I would suspect the FMC board more then the comm board. Hope this helps.
