Default h/w buffer size error

hi all,

powerbook g4 pt le 6.9.2 mbox lacie external

i get the error "cpu usage is holding off usb audio. remove some plug ins, delete some tracks, or increase h/w buffer size .....in the playback engine..."

in these sessions, i was not using any plug ins and had only a couple of tracks.

i increased the h/w buffer size to the max (1024 i think)---was ok for awhile then got the error again.
(the buffer size had reverted to smaller after my clean ups---i just made it bigger....again....trusting all's well now...but just in case:)

i have done most of the trouble-shooting procedures, all except reinstall.
i;m sure i'll figure it out but if anyone has a tip, i'm much obliged..

thanks in advance.

talia

If you have one of the new Hi-Def 1.67 ghz powerbooks, released as of the 19th October 2005 then you need Pro tools 7. Don't ask me why, it only affects the powerbooks and no other macs. The new powerbooks will not work properly with 6.9.2. We had a big thing about it here in the DUC when Pro Tools 7 first launched, everybody who went to 7 immediately received recording bliss. I can run 20 tracks of audio with around 20 plugs and the CPU meter is hovering around 50%.

Regards
