Default ICON vs S1's bundled together

Can anyone tell me why I'd be better off with an ICON than a few S1's wtih iPads on top bundled together?

Custom Fader Groups and XMon. Tangible EQ and Compression knobs as well as surround panner. Better quality faders (so I hear).

Unless you're freezing your system, icon is already well past its EOL. All feature development from Avid going forward will be for Eucon systems.

the ICON still better than S1 the only thing a S1 has is a smaller footprint!

I'd argue the icon d control is still ahead of the s6m40 right now. But this won't last as new functions get added to s6.

I guess it depends on your personal workflow. D Control is more an old school console with dedicated controls for a lot of mixing functions. The modern Avid controllers leave more room for individual setups, mainly with touchscreens and their versatile encoders and knobs at the edges. They support you when editing, in playlist handling, with clip gain and many more.

Best

Mark

ICON feels like a console.

S6 feels like a computer controlling a computer. I'm not into it.

Running 2018.4 here and loving life.

Yes I wasn’t being flippant earlier, because it really depends on how you work

Both are most likely really great for what you need (I only have the icon) but it really depends on you.
