trigger ableton LIVE midi instruments in rewire mode?

I can use my external keyboard to trigger a midi track in ableton LIVE standalone. However, when I have PT9 running in rewire mode, the keyboard does not trigger LIVE midi tracks but it can trigger PT midi tracks.

Is there a way to trigger LIVE midi tracks in rewire mode? is there some kind of pass-thru setting I am missing?

I can also see an option for a PT midi track output to trigger the ableton LIVE midi instrument but when I select that I get no audio trigger either.

so my goal is to trigger an ableton live midi instrument when in rewire mode? if possible.....
