Default Windows Support

I decided to purchase the Digi 001 once it comes out with support for Windows. As a side note, I would like to go Mac but am a computer consultant and already have a rockin' PC so I can't justify the money for a comparable Mac.

I have two questions, is there a more specific date other than "early 2000" as to when the Windows version of ProTools LE and the Digi 001 drivers will be available?
I want to start planning when I'm going to have to shell out the cash.

Second, will it work with Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Andy

ender,

As you know, the product is not released yet so there is not a whole lot of info available for us to give you. We were showing PTLE for PC at NAMM. We were showing it using win98 on a CPU with a Pentium II or III processor. The estimated release is hopefully late April early May. This is what we were saying at NAMM but this is only an estimated release time - I like early 2000 better.

Hope this helps,

B Carter

Our current target date for release of Win 98 support is April. Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 will not be supported with that release, and we'll probably have to see how Win 2000 actually shakes out when it is released before a decision is made on supporting that OS. Doesn't mean never, and we are looking at it, but I would not expect Win 2000 support anytime soon.

We did show PT LE v5.0.1 Win 98 beta with the 001 at last week's NAMM show, so it's coming along nicely.

Looks like Brian and I posted at the same time. Essentially the same info, as specific as we can be, so I hope that helps you make your plans.

Digidesign,

Thanks for the info. Do you know how fast the pentium 3 was at the NAMM show?
