Unreal price for an upgrade. They should give us $25 off per bug that we have been dealing with from the horrible version 8 to 9. I already paid $350 for the upgrade to 9 for what?

I know that they usually include the software with the hardware, but damn these prices are over the top! I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to squeeze another $1k out of me. By making our hardware incompatible with future hardware, they really have us by the balls.

Sorry to be blunt. But you guys simply don't get it.

IF pt 10 was 64 bit Then the older version of tdm and blue hardwares would not work.. PERIOD!! So all that money that you would have placed into those hardwares. would be a complete waste.

You can't get both. They had to make a choice, and the choice was not to make it 64 bit so that those of you who do not have the newer hardwares would not be penalized even more.

Would you have preferred that they made it 64 bit, but that everything you bought in the past was completely useless and that you had to buy everything a new?

Thats the thing, I don't even need HDX. I'm perfectly happy with the i/o and processing power that my mac and HD Native have to offer.

$999 for a software only upgrade that is essentially a stop gap before 64bit PT 11 is insane. It will also mean a ton of $$$ upgrading all my plugs to AAX eventually...

Here is my complaint about the upgrade pricing. The administrator said they are going to have great trade in pricing on the HDX systems. For me and those of us right now who have just bought the HD Native system and don't have the need to trade up to that system feel penalized about this pricing. Yes there are a lot of features that come in the new HD 10 software and that is great. For me this feels like an insult because I just bought a Native system with a the New HD I/O just a couple of months ago (to be exact 2 months). I can understand a person running a legacy TDM system that does not want to buy the new HD cards and just want the new software. The Native system just came out a year ago and now I have shell out another $1,000.00? What trade in program can you really offer me? The Native system works and yes I love it, but now you dangling a nice piece of software in front of me with an insulting price. You make me feel like I bought the wrong product. Maybe I would have been better just getting an M-box that comes with Pro Tools 9 and I can upgrade for $300.00. Hell I would have accepted that price for an HD upgrade software price.

To me as a customer I don't want to feel like I bought a product and now I have to second guess my future purchases when I feel like the company is not looking out for customers like myself. I feel left out in the cold Avid.
