Default Pro tools 10 / MOTU 2408 mk3 / MTC

I have a Mac Pro 2.8 8 core, OS 10.8.3 and two MOTU 2408 mkIII's with a MOTU 424 PCIe card, running a new installation of Pro Tools 10.

My last rig was M Audio PT 8 with a Profire Lightbridge and the procedure below was simple stupid.

I have a Yamaha DM2000 console and Tascam MX2424 recorders. I want to sync PT to the time code from the recorders to lay my tracks from the MX to PT and remove the MX's from my system. Before, with PT 8, I just sent TC to the TC input of the Lightbridge and it then showed up in my session. I could put PT online and it would simply chase the MX's. No biggie.

Now with the 2408's/424 setup, I have time code running into the top 2408 and it shows up in the MOTU PCI SMPTE setup fine. However, no matter what I do, I cannot get Pro Tools to input time code or MTC from the 424. Pro Tools does not recognize any MOTU device in the MTC Reader Port and does not recognize any MOTU MIDI source in the MIDI Input Devices.

Also, when I set up the 424 hardware directly in Setup/Hardware/Peripherals, the clock source displays as PCI-424:SMPTE. But clicking on the Session button (Command/2) crashes Pro Tools 100% of the time.

Setting up the 424 card as a source in Pro Tools Aggregate I/O does not crash when pressing the Session button, but I cannot cause it to use SMPTE as the clock source. It defaults to PCI-424:Internal.

Arggg. Thanks for your help!

Hello. Were you able to resolve this issue? I have a similar issue with PT10, MTC and MOTU 424. Like you I am trying to replace a digital recorder (HDR) with PT but can't get PT to work with my mixer (D8b). I was hoping you found an answer to your situation that might work for me. Thank you. Tom
