Someone describe please what I am looking at here. Cause the Avid interface is old news. Is it a compatible solid state hard drive enclosure?

And don't expect it to be appearing in mass production for a while...

Oh noes! Intel got Avid with Larrabee, and got'em again with Lightpeak!!!!

With partners like that, who needs competitors?

I guess the upshot is that Avid will now have no choice but to go native and embrace system standards as their tech OEMs are using them as demo fodder.

With each new post here and on Gearslutz, I'm increasingly concerned that there is something wrong with you Peter. It's either that, or you, or someone you know/love, was fired or wronged by Avid/Digidesign. Given that you're from the Bay area I'm hoping it's the latter and not the former.

Do tell. And I am being 100% sincere.

And the article also expects Apple to adopt it...
Consider the source. The so-called big-3 were the last to adopt USB (Apple was first), firewire (apple was first), They were shipping floppy drives 6+ years after Apple killed them off. These so-called big 3 are dinosaurs.
Gotta read these articles from the perspective of the sheep.
They are also "big 3" since they also sell millions of units to businesses that have no need for much more than an IP connection.
They are not "big 3" for professional workstations, or consumer.
Whatever. The writer met his quota of words for the day. Doesn't mean much, does it?

And if they do, everyone else will follow as usual.
