Default PT 8 and VVTR Pro 8 and Scrubbing

Hi all,

I just finished installing a new system with PT 8 on an 8 core. I only went to 8.0cs3 as I am reading all kinds of issues with 8.0.1.

Then I looked for updates to VVTR Pro and found an 8.1 release. Downloaded that. I looked all over the Gallery site and the VVTR Yahoo message group and found no mention of this release. Any one know anything? It is working so far and looks the same.

Well, I discovered that you can now scrub with PT8/VVTR8 JUST like you can when the video is on board PT. So, who changed behaviour? PT or VVTR? Or both? I guess I don't care ultimately because now I can put the cursor on the timeline and drag right or left. No more of that placing the cursor beyond where you want to go and dragging back. But being an inquisitive sort, I would like to know who fixed what.

Scrubbing as always is unbelievably tight.

I think thats due to PT 8 because I'm still on VVTR 6.x and it allows me to now do that.

Yes! It's a tremendous development!

Makes sense it is a PT 8 thing. My sense is it must be related to Video Satellite. Is it?

That was one of the reasons for switching to Satellite and Pro Tools 8.
I no longer use VVTR, but it good to hear the looping and shuttle functions apply to both.

I don't know. Video Satellite was introduced in PT7.4. While quicktime movies and VVTR were still "broken" at that time, Video Satellite, AVXL, and MOJO worked "right". Maybe they had to fix it to make Video Satellite LE, specifically, work. That was introduced with PT8 and relies on QuickTime much more heavily, I think. Or maybe they just finally got around to reworking all of the code that is involved.
