Do tell. And I am being 100% sincere.
Drew I have no personal animus against Avid/digidesign beyond what is already excruciatingly clear...they have arbitrarily crippled the products I paid thousands of dollars for and that makes my work difficult every day. They do this to create artificial demand for a system neither I nor Lucasfilm wants to buy anymore. I have gone into exhaustive detail over more than a decade about the various ways this strategy is self-destructive for them. And they have never tossed me so much as a bone (Lucas got the CPTK ).

I have been a software creator in the past and they even bought one of the companies I did the UI for years ago. That was all fine. But it's my hobby to observe and criticize bad business of all forms. I've been doing it since the 80's, almost as long as I've been in recording studios (always a parallel track in my life, for the last several years full time again).

In this forum they have censorship control and are choosing not to use it on me. Naturally I think that's an intelligent choice! It means the discussion occurs here rather than somewhere they'd have no control at all.

A question for you is, why is it so important to you that I stop posting my observations, opinions and predictions? You were in the 8.01 about box, are you now undercover? I have no problem with your attacking the substance of what I write but you don't...you've been questioning my sanity or bias lately. Which won't get you anywhere as there's no there there.

This is fun and I think even the Avid people enjoy reading along. Not only does it make them feel they are doing something worth chronicling and analyzing, I will 100% bet you some of them have learned things about their own company reading these posts.

Anyway I fear if you were the moderator of a bbs it would be eminently boring and consist of two guys typing knock knock jokes to each other. Those are already available if you are uncomfortable here.

So did you not read about the products before you bought them? Or did someone from Avid sneak into your studio after you bought them and cripple it? Curious. I do research and I buy and use the products that suit me, I suggest you do the same. You'd have a lot more free time on your hands.

I must admit, that's quite a hobby you have there!! Therein lies the issue. I just can't fathom wasting my time criticizing the way a company runs its operation. But then, some people like to put clothespins on their nipples.

It's not important to me AT ALL that you stop. You're a source of perverse entertainment here now and on GS. Mission accomplished!! Avid could (and probably will) release a new version that "fixes" all your issues and you'll just come up with new ones to keep the fun rolling!!!

Undercover? What the hell does that even mean?

Thank you for clearing this up. It's a hobby, cool, got it!!

The test units for light peak were apple mac pros. so, i believe that apple will probably be the first to adopt, but until that time comes display port is here to stay.

I'm not sure about this one, honestly - whether it be the claim or the safety of the bet.

Displayport will stay concurrent with Lightpeak.
