Anyone know of a Midi sequencer that's similar to Protools?

I want to install a Midi sequencer on my laptop so that I can import midi files that I create in Protools, work on them and then import them back into Protools at home.

Is there a sequencer that has the same basic layout as Protools. I just want to be able to see all of the tracks and use a pencil tool to add notes.

Any tips will be appreciated.

Does the piano roll in Cakewalk open each midi track in it's own window or can you see all of the tracks in piano roll view at once?

In the main window you can see them all but
you can edit one at time too.
You can also combine or split tracks.
Try their demo and you will see.

I know it might sound strange, but how about Protools FREE? It should run fine on most laptops if you're not pushing the audio part too hard (mainly due to slow hard drives- not performance) It'll have all the midi features of 5.01 (ie no event list)

If you want a sampler for ptfree....just get sampletank free. Works fine with ptfree. The latency id quite high though, but for editing i dont think that's a big problem...
