Pro Tools Ultimate perpetual renewals

I'm sure I'm not the only one confused about this.

Under the new Pro Tools plans recently announced, what will be the cost for annual renewal of an active and current Ultimate perpetual plan. The explanations are vague as Avid tries to steer us to a subscription, but in "my account", it tells me it's the same $399 for a one year extension.

Is this the case? My current plan is good until Feb.2023, but in lieu of rising costs, I many consider extending that.

I agree it is confusing, and you are correct for an active Ultimate plan it is $399 for annual renewal.

Have a look too if Pro Tools Studio may work for you now, as it has been renamed from Regular, Vanilla etc and has gotten quite a few Ultimate features and an increased track count to 512.

All of this is true except the only way to purchase a Perpetual PT Studio License is through a retailer till they run out of current stock or purchase a $4000 PT|Carbon interface since Avid no longer offers Perpetual PT Licenses through their online store or via the retail market.
I say this because the OP sounds like me and hates this subscription-only model. Also to purchase a PT Standard/Studio License is $599.00 to get started and $199.00 each additional year to stay current.
If you do the numbers with his current Ultimate Plan that's $399+$399=$798 for 2 more years. If he buys PT Studio that's $599+$199=$798 for 2 years. He wouldn't start saving any money till he renews his PT Studio Plan for the 3rd year at $199 vs. $399 for his PT Ultimate Plan.
