2nd hard drive ddb causing kernel panic
i am running pro tools le 6.4 on a 400mhz g4 with an mbox, and i stuck an extra hard drive in the machine for storage. it boots 10.3.5 from the other drive; yet every time i launch pro tools, it creates a 2nd database file on the storage disk in addition to the one that exists on the 1st hard drive. i believe this is causing some serious problems, resulting in kernel panics all the time. anyone have this problem? and if so, what's the fix?
thanks in advance- |

Re: 2nd hard drive ddb causing kernel panic
well, i just read that i need to trash the volume.ddb files on any other mounted drives, so unless anyone has a better suggestion, i guess that's just that.

Re: 2nd hard drive ddb causing kernel panic
Kernal panics are usually RAM-related. Do you have enough, and are you're RAM-blocks 100% ok?

Re: 2nd hard drive ddb causing kernel panic
yeah, my ram tests fine, and it's 512 mb in there. i really think the problem was coming from that second volume.ddb file on the other mounted drive that i was using for storage... the kernel panics are gone now that i've been trashing that file at pro tools' launch...
thanks for the insight - |
