Wandering off the rails here, but...

A DAW is not going to be reasonably confused with a soft drink. So no it's not any chance of an issue.

And even if Pro Tools was a soft drink Coke firmly lost the Zero trademark battle. A fairly famous trademark spat. https://lawstreetmedia.com/news/agri...ircuit-ruling/ I was never on Coke's side there, it's too much purely descriptive to be a trademark, well to my simple legal mind.

One of my joys in helping startup a few companies has been company and product naming, trademarks etc. including one where I beat Sony out of a registered trademark in Japan for non-use. Oy we'll take that if you are not going to use it. Job well done and one of the smallest legal fees I've ever seen so felt extra nice.

FWIW, in the ARA webinar that just ended (Tuesday), Avid reps repeatedly said "later this week" for 2022.9

Man that webinar was painful! The guy doing the demo didn’t seem to know much about melodyne. The guy from celemony had to walk him through some basic stuff.

My main takeaway is that I’ll likely keep using the plugin for most of my heavy vocal editing. I don’t love that the ara integration is in a docked tab. I like having my melodyne window and pro tools edit window split 50/50 across my ultra wide monitor and it won’t really be possible with this implementation.

Will definitely be great for quick fixes and creative stuff.

I have to agree with you. It was very slow and seemed to be teaching us mostly about how to use Melodyne. I only wanted to know how the ARA integration was working, but gave up after 10 minutes.

Also, I use a whole window for the Melodyne Editor and the other one for PT edit window. The docked window looks limited.

Sounds like it was a bit of a fizzer. It is early days though, so perhaps the ARA2 implementation will start evolving quicker with Pro Tools finally onboard.

On a side note, I hope Pro Tools finally gets something similar to Avid Open I/O in Media Composer. It is basically just an SDK available to video hardware developers that allows them to write their own plugins to use their audio/video hardware. Motu, Blackmagic, AJA, etc all seem to use it. There are some really big holes developing in the way Pro Tools I/O is being offered to users. You can use 256 I/O natively through coreaudio, but you can't have edge frame sync with video. If you want that, you are limited to 64 I/O and HD Native... or you've gotta buy HDX3 for 192 I/O even if you don't need DSP.

It is all a wee bit half-baked at the moment.

The only reason why people buy SyncHD, SyncX...
I don't think Avid are going to give up on that money.

They have already given it up though. 3 or 4 years ago when a HDX3 system was required for high I/O counts, the $3K investment in a SyncHD or SyncX was an easy sell. Now though? When you can achieve those high I/O counts in Pro Tools for just $3000, nobody is ostensibly lining up to give Avid an extra $17000 just to achieve edge frame sync without hugely questioning the insanity of the proposition, or even the requirement for edge frame sync at all.

The fact that Avid seem poised to announce a TB3 card for the MTRX Studio really just pushes the old 9-pin sync stuff further and further out into the margins. If gatekeeping hardware really lead to continued profit, Avid ultimately wouldn't be making all these I/O changes in the first place.

Seems plausible that Avid could if they wanted to enable a SyncX to communicate to a host computer serial port (or adapter). Needs maybe a device driver and some magic/careful software to communicate to the DAW and keep the latency very low.
