Default New Avid Pro Tools Control for iPad

This flew in under the radar. It's based on Eucon, and it's free!

This is a big deal! More than surprised it's free!

That is a very nice move. And an interesting one, it will hopefully give many of us a chance to see if EUCON, at least in this simplified form, works reliably and is well supported. It's not been pretty at times seeing all the problems (and my early play with an Artist series was not impressive, cheap plasticky and fader problems, which I believe were long ago addressed).

Now we're talking - been hoping for an 'official' controller for some time. I wonder if this will be similar to 3P apps ... or if Avid will/can take advantage of their control of AAX and deliver decent plugin GUI control also (which could also work alongside the Artist range) ... or S6-like displays, scrolling waveforms, etc. ... or even more e.g. full touchscreen editing?

What's the betting it only works with 12? That way it's not "free"..

I wonder how Neyrinck feel? Problem with V Control is that it is hui, so loses metering when combined with a Eucon surface, as Eucon scribble strips handle multichannel meters, whereas hui and diginet (Icon, C24, etc) only handle stereo.

If this thing works, I might actually consider upgrading to PT12!

What a concept ... introducing features to make upgrading worthwhile! Shame Avid apparently don't trust themselves and have to implement the unpopular lapsed plan penalty - replace this and imagine the surge in support after all the negativity ... and next week would be a good time to show they value and listen to their users :)
