Default Mbox2 as sound device in Windows 7

Hello!

I just got my mbox 2 and want to use it as my main sound card as the internal soundcard in my acer is very bad! I have fiddled around in sound settings but I just can't do it. Can anyone help please? :)

Post a Sandra report on your computer and tell us what version of PT you intend to run and the OS on which you intend to run it.

You should be able to switch off your onboard one within device manager.

Depending on your OS and PT version, there are certain limitations to what a Digi interface can do. Post the information I asked for above.

I am not sure if I have all the information

My OS: Windows 7 64-bit home edition

Protools version: Mbox 2. I installed the software that came with the hardware first. Then I upgraded to 8.0.3. And then I updated to Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 Cs2.

Shouldn't it be simple as that? I also run Win 7, when the mbox is connected, all sounds go through it, when not connected, all sounds go through the onboard sound card, no need to disable anything.. Did you install the appropriate audio drivers? http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=362875

No, I haven't done anything musical for a bout a month because I am getting some studies out of the way. I think that you may need to get the latest asio driver and configure it when you open an application that will trigger it to start.

I will have another go in a couple of weeks once I have finished my studies.

Let me know if you have any results.

hey i had the same problem
but i found a solution
what you need to do is install the latest ASIO4ALL drivers from "http://www.asio4all.com/"
download and install
during the installation
MAKE SURE YOU TICK
OFF-LINE SETTINGS
after the installation is complete
goto start menu and goto the ASIO4ALL program offline Settings

You should now be able to see your original sound card and Digidesign Mbox 2 Audio there. Click the "On" button which then becomes blue
Press the drop down box and make sure the Mbox2 out 1/2 Out is turned on
now you can close ASIO4ALL

Now goto Control panel and Hardware and Sound, and choose Sound
once that opens up make sure you are in the Playback tab
and you should now be able to see:
Line 1/2
Digidesign Mbox 2 Audio
and then set that to Default device and you are done

NOTE:
this was done on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
