PT LE for Windows XP Dual Xeons?
Hi all,
I am planning buying PT LE M-Box for Windows XP Pro and wondered about it's suitability running on a Dual processor machine. (you can assume all other PT LE XP software shortcomings will be met in terms of hardware specifics i.e. DEC and chipset, Approved Hard drive etc. etc.) It is probably too much to ask that Mbox will be optimised for dual Xeons as we know the audio engine is so old. (writing fades back to the harddrive?, who else does that now?) However I need to know if it is likely to work before I buy it Thanks very much for your time. Sorry if I appear to be slightly annoying it's just I am generally not a massive PT fan but feel the need to buy it as a neccessary evil. Cheers Again.

Re: PT LE for Windows XP Dual Xeons?
I've posted the same question.
I'm concerned with the fact that PTLE doesn't support Hyperthreading, so it might not support multiple pentium cpus. I'd really like to upgrade my motherboard and cpu, but don't want to spend the money just to find out it won't support it. Jeron |

Re: PT LE for Windows XP Dual Xeons?
Ok thanks for that, maybe I came across wrong on my post
I use quite a few editors and I have my favourites and PT is well respected in the industry and I am please they are supporting XP now as I very much prefer PC than Mac's. I am also looking forward to getting an Mbox We have both TDM and LE at my workplace but I also use SADiE and Nuendo you see, so each has it's own good and bad points. Thanks

OFF topic:
"We have both TDM and LE at my workplace but I also use SADiE and Nuendo you see, so each has it's own good and bad points." I have been looking at NUENDO. Could you define the positive and negatives between PT and Nuendo? Thanks.

Re: PT LE for Windows XP Dual Xeons?
Im running PTLE 6.7cs8 on a Dell Precision Workstation 670/Single Xeon 3Ghz/2GB RAM.
The box is mainly used for 3D/Motion Design but it works great as a second DAW system (the other is a G4 933). Only problem was I had to take out the "noexecute=option" line out of the boot.ini file. As far as Hyper-Threading goes, the machine handles my other line of work fine. I do welcome a Dual CPU version of Protools:) |
