Default Native Instruments

All of my NI plugins are scanning except for the instruments(Kontakt, Kom Kon, Massive, etc.)

All of the effects plugins are scanning though. Cleared the plugin preferences but nothing seems to help.

anyone had this issue?

What exactly does "scanning" mean?

I just installed the latest Pro Tools 2023.3 on my Mac Studio on MaxOS 12.6.3 and I can't get Kontakt 6.7.1 to show up in my plugins list in PT. Is anyone else having this issue?

None of this is relevant to this thread, please don't spam onto other threads like this.

Not sure why you are on this irrelevant thread vs looking at the thousands of posts on DUC about Macs and the Apple silicon transition. Your old intel only plugins are not going to work by default under 2023.3. You need to either run Pro Tools in Rosetta mode, or check if there are Apple silicon updated versions of the plugins available. All explained in great detail, so many times on DUC already.

Well, it seemed like the OP was having the same issue of it not showing up. Perhaps I misinterpreted his post.

And, FWIW, NI stated 6.7.1 now supports Apple Silicon but it isn't working, thus the question which seemed pertinent to the original post.

Are these reasonably up to date versions? Stuff should generally all work on Windows, but who knows...

Are the .aaxplugin files (technically actually directories to emulate Mac bundles) for those plugins actually in the plugin folder? C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins. Actually check they are, and have similar owner and permissions, and rough size as the other plugins in that folder. If not reinstall the plugins from newly downloaded installers.

If they are there and are not showing up then the plugin cache preference file would be a suspect. You mention you already tried trashing prefs, which was a great step, .... but make sure you follow the exact instructions https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...ndows-10-Guide. ... or use the third party Trasher app. In this case it is really just the InstalledAAXPlugins prefs file that is a suspect. You should see Pro Tools startup/plugin scan be much slower after that as it builds a new InstalledAAXPlugins file. Make sure you see it scan these plugins then, and make sure there are no warning/error messages popping up that might be hidden under other windows. Still not working try disabling any antivirus software, trashing prefs again and maybe reinstalling the plugins.

Still stuck let us know here.

Where did you see that?

If you look at their support page here (updated March 31):
https://support.native-instruments.c...991.1680469199

it shows that Kontakt 6 is now "Natively compatible with Apple Silicon" BUT it does not have the asterisk next to it (which Kontakt 7 DOES), which indicates (when you look down for it) "*Native Pro Tools / AAX plug-in support on Apple Silicon. For more info, visit this Avid page."

So, Kontakt 6 is not (presently) Native Silicon AAX compatible.

I'm willing to bet that's the case with most of the other instruments. I had to update to the very latest versions of everything to get them to show up in PT Silicon Native (as of last week, anyway).

You have a basic apple silicon plugin compatibility issue.

6.7.1 does *not* support Apple silicon *AAX* plugins, you are being confused by NI sloppy marketing speech and by not reading the fine print in their announcements/status pages.

Your first step whenever there is an issue like this should be to check what actually is installed, check if the plugins actually installed are universal or intel only, using Pete Gates' PT Prefs 2 utility.

All this and much more is discussed in great detail in other threads on DUC. Use google search with a site: duc.avid.com qualifier to help find stuff if needed.

You can google for how to run in Rosetta mode if not sure.
