best pitch shifting plugin for PT in 2023

Just worth mentioning, that for whatever reason Avid didn't release Apple Silicon version of Xform (and Avid-distributed Aphex bundle) on the current beta release, but I am pretty confident we get those back once the supported version is released.

It uses Radius from iZotope... hope they don't have to rely on them to update it!

Yes, iZotope has licensed it out to several companies over the years.

Are we saying that X-Form offers identical results as Izotope's option? They pulled the algorithm without making any further improvements?

Maybe it's the difference in GUIs and the user experience but it *seems* that I'm getting better sonic expansions/compressions with X-Form than with Izotope's products.

It definitely seems better in X-Form to me too, compared to say RX.

I have no insight to how they're using it, and X-Form is quite old now so Avid might not either

If Avid licensed this time stretching and pitch algorithm, why didn't they put it into TC/E inside Pro Tools instead?

They charge $500 for the plugin, because it's considered a premium algorithm. Include it and they lose that opportunity to make money from it.

On that basis they could charge extra for Beat Detective, or any feature. Being as almost everyone is paying subscription, or updates fees, isn't this part of the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle?

Beat Detective was originally HD-only so they did charge extra for it. Now it is a standard feature.
