Default OMNI PreAmp LCD Failure

I have an omni that absolutely works great in my small home studio. The LCD screen for the preamp has been fading for some time, it finally completely failed.

I contacted Avid regarding a repair and the estimate was close to $1,000.

I plan to open it up this weekend and see if I can gather any specifics on the actual screen to see if I could source a replacement.

If anyone has any recommendations Im all ears.

Thanks

Dave

Given good used ones sell for $600 to $900 that seem a bit steep

If you are only running HD Native (not HDX) maybe it is time to get off DigiLink and Ultimate and onto Studio and a nice ASIO interface... lower annual costs and get better longterm support than being screwed on repairs like this.

BTW it *might* not be the LCD screen that is failing, but rather the power supply to it and maybe any trim voltage that adjusts contrast. There may be local voltage regulators for the screen, especially check those. As always start trouble shooting by checking supply voltages. Here is an intro to LCD display voltages https://focuslcds.com/journals/lcd-v...lays-explained.

Yeah I'm running an HDX system. And don't see me abandoning it anytime soon.

I appreciate the link to the LCD voltage primer page. Thanks.

I have faded Green lcd text but the Orange lcd text is very bright.
Are these dual lcd?

ps the contrast reset has no affect.
