Cycling through automation modes on the S1?
I am finding the S1 very difficult to learn from the official manual. The manual says Surface SHIFT + A/Rec should toggle between automation modes. When I do these keys, it toggles instrument monitoring on and off

That is selectable in EuControl Preferences. It was changed in EuCon 2022.12 to allow it to toggle between "Record/Input Monitor" as well. Look for the pull-down menu under "REC / Auto switch" in the General tab of the EuControl Settings.
