002 control surface blank scribble strips

So, I had Pro Tools on, but no session open and my 002 control surface was on as well. I came back in after backing some things up and went to open another session. I got the old "Unable to locate Digidesign Hardware" message that you get so often that is generally fixed with a restart of the hardware. I restarted it about 5 times and it powers on every time, but I just get blank scribble strips and no communication. I had a power supply problem where it did something somewhat similar a few years back, but it gave me a message on the scribble strips that time. Is this the same thing? Any suggestions?

turned it back on after about an hour and it worked fine. Just a fluke? Anyone?
