Default H/W buffer size (-9092) message

When I try to reproduce audio the following message appears

The operating system held off interrupts
for too long. if this occurs often, try
increasing the H/W Buffer Size in the
Hardware Setup panel. (-9092)

But I don't have an option bigger than 8192 samples in my Hardware setup.
Does somebody know where the problem can be?

Hi there.
Activate the DMA Option for your HD. If this won´t work it´s a conflict with AMD and VIA Chipset. In this case you only can buy a new computer with Intel PIII and Intel Chipset.
Bye

I have the same problem on a P4 with 256 meg RDRAM and a 7200 Hard Disk.

How do you set the option for your hard disk to allow editing of the buffer size?

Thanks!!!

This is a larger question than you would currently believe. I have been experimenting with PTF and have come to a few conclusions about this particular set of errors.

1. In digi's defense, the scope of releasing a free program for an open computer platform(pc) has a range of possible conflicts that no company could completely anticipate. I have been very impressed with the performance of PTF, and so will anyone else if they will just read the compatability documents, and do some homework.

2. Use the search option located at the top of the duc page to locate former posts on this topic.(there are plenty, with some crucial info.)

3. You must simplify tour system load. Use ctrl+alt+del to turn off eveything exept explorer and systray (or the closest possible you can come to this). Anything asking for system resources while ptf is running will cause this error.

4. I usually run PTF with buffer sizes of 1024 with the dae buffer size at 4. These two options work in conjunction with one another. For example, if I raise the dae buffer size to 8, I can lower the hardware buffer size to 512 ( the larger dae buffer size though makes the program sluggish). Keep in mind these are generic sound card drivers. You will find these options in the SETUPS window of the PTF program.
