Apogee ONE I/O setup- not monitoring or recording in Pro Tools 10
Just trying to setup my I/O, using Apogee ONE with an external mic. If anyone can walk me through those settings, I'd appreciate it.
I set the playback engine to ONE (not the PT aggregate). Thanks to similar posts on a Gearslutz forum, I figured out that I had to delete the default PT I/O paths, and create a new mono path for both input/output. This is the only way that I've been able to assign I/O correctly enough to record enable an audio track, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly (especially not sure about the output- it currently says Mono output). I am seeing input levels from the mic correctly, but can't hear anything in the output (headphones are connected correctly to the interface), AND when I try to record, the time of the track runs, but nothing is recorded- no waveform at all. I've checked the hardware setup- opened up the Apogee Maestro Mixer (set "To Hardware" tab to stereo Out L-R, which allowed me access to the "From Software" and Input" faders) and Maestro Control (set input to Ext48V mic and output to stereo), but can't seem to figure out how this all affects the PT setup. I also checked MacBook system preferences and confirmed that the input/output there is using the ONE as well. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? When setting up the output path, do I need to do anything with "audition paths" or "default output bus"?? If someone can specify how to create the paths for the I/O for the ONE, I assume that will solve the problem. Thank you for your help- I've been doing my research and can't seem to make anymore progress! |

Re: Apogee ONE I/O setup- not monitoring or recording in Pro Tools 10
Wow... disregard this thread! I figured it out, and am a bit embarrassed. I was doing all the settings correctly, and just happened to have the headphones connected incorrectly. I apparently wasn't thinking and connected the cans to the ONE's breakaway cable instrument-in jack. Whoops.
Now, how do I delete this thread so as not to waste anyone's time?! |

Don't delete it....it's amusing
You're not the first and won't be the last to have 'overlooked' fundamentals.
