If I buy a new boxed 11R with PT8LE, will AVID automatically upgrade me to PT10?

I have an opportunity to buy a new, boxed Eleven Rack with ProTools 8LE, but now the Eleven Rack is shipping with ProTools 10 full version as well as the expansion pack. If I buy the old version, do I automatically get upgraded to ProTools 10 with the Expansion Pack? If not, I obviously don't want it.

I think I read somewhere that if you buy a new 11R with an older ProTools you are entitled to a free PT update + expansion. THat is, if it's bought after Oct or Nov 2011 (something like that). I can't find where I read that now though...

I think I also read that the offer goes for people who buy a 11R bundled with PT9, not 8. But of this I'm very unsure...

Read through Avids site, it should be there somewhere...

Here it is, but nothing about the expansion:
"Do I qualify for a free upgrade?
You’re eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools 10 if you purchased and registered an Eleven Rack with Pro Tools 9 on or after October 1, 2011 (register your purchase). If you qualify, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to get your free upgrade."

I read either here or in the ElevenRackPresets.com forum of someone buying a new 11R with PTLE8, and a couple of days later, getting the email notification and links to the download for PT10 and ERXP. Can't verify though....

There is no way to really know. the Official Statement by Avid says NO.

You are eligible for a free upgrade if the Eleven Rack bundle included Pro Tools 9 but you are not eligible if the bundle includes Pro Tools LE 8

However, I have seen reports from a few people who bought bundles with LE8 and they got the free upgrade to PT10.

So Officially NO. But some people have received the free upgrade.

Your best bet is to look for a bundle that has PT9 included. You can find these brand new on eBay all day for $699 - $750
