Drag/Import Audio Plays Back Wrong

Hi,

I was experiencing this intermittent problem the other day. I was receiving bounced 48k WAV files from a composer.

I dragged them into my 48k session (PT 8.0.3cs2 on Mac) and for some reason, they would appear in the track with some kind of sync-point looking mark near the head of the region. And what was worse, they were playing back at the wrong speed. It was like they were being elastic-audio time stretched for some reason??? Importing via the Import Dialog box would import them correctly. And not every file (although all from the same person) would not experience this bizarre drag to session error.

Also, every time I tried to SPOT them to a location, they would always land 7 seconds exactly out of sync.

Anybody have any ideas? I have spent YEARS importing audio files this way, just dragging to the track, and never had anything like this happen before.
