ProTools Crashing every time I close a session

Since upgrading to PT8.0.3, this has been happening.


When closing a session, the application hangs and gives an error that I must Force Quit to get out of...

THe error = "Could not complete the Close Session command because an access violation has occurred."

I have repaired the drive with Disk Utility. All internal drives are "Read & Write" access.

If the application doesn't hang up, then it quits on it's own.

Has anyone else experienced this?
How can I fix this from happening?

I am doing further testing here...

I opened a session.
I didn't change anything.

I closed the session.

The prompt asked me if I want to save or not... I selected Don't Save.

--- and I got the same access violation error.

access errors are almost always DigiDatabase related.

Use the Helper App in the Stickies portion above to delete them.

And equally important might be some permissions issues....

Most all apps write a lot of stuff back to the drive when quitting.... last sessions opened... last window positions.... preferences... a lot of stuff..

If it can't write to those files for whatever reason, it could easily crash.

As the previous poster said, deleting all prefs should fix it, but you might want to try repairing permissions first....

Reinstall everything from scratch. Pain, yes. Problems, no.

If its not the database files needing trashing....

Check ALL plugins are up to date and compatible!!

I had Serato Gate cause this for me with 8.0.1

-----> I repaired permissions, I have Read & Write access on all drives, and I deleted prefs with the application above. I still get the same error.

Next I will try taking out all of the plug-ins to see if ti still happens....
