Default Buffer size errore message

Hello,

I am a total virgin to recording and I have just been deflowered by the MBOX 2. I am running pro tools 7.0. My question is this: When I begin recording I get interrupted with a message that reads "The operating system held off interruptions for too long. If this occures often try increasing the H/W Buffer Size in the playback engine dialoge (-9092)". I then go and increase the buffer size incrementally, getting the same response each time to increase the buffer size, until I reach the largest buffer size of 2048 samples which causes me to get a message reading " Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occures often reduce H/W Buffer Size (-9129)". I am running the MBOX on a HP dv1010CM laptop. I have the CPU usage set at 85% and noticed that I can get the longest amount of recording time without interruption by putting my HW Buffer to the max. of 2048 samples and my CPU usuage to about 55%. HOW DO I RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM???????? ( Ah man how much is this going to cost me!)

THX,
Fern

Default Re: Buffer size errore message

Are you recording to the system drive of that laptop? Did you know that is not recommended? Have you checked the compatibility of your laptop and other components?

Check the General Troubleshooting thread for details.
