pro tools crashing everytime close session

Everytime i close a session pro tools is quitting with crash log...

I copied this from another thread I replied to:

"Had the same thing with one particular session and I went through the entire http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...fpart=1#177661 , except for uninstall/reinstall PT and create new user account. Did not help much. So, I removed Stylus RMX 1.2 from the plugin folder, and that fixed it. I then downloaded RMX 1.5, installed it and tried my unstable session again, with RMX. All good.
Hard to say what's bugging your particular setup."

Altiverb V4 HTDM has been known to do this - even if you don't have any altiverbs instanciated. I had to remove it except to mix - knowing I'd crash after re-open. What a PITA.

Thanks i'll check that out! pt is also crashing when i delete unwanted tracks from the session, seems almost anything will make it quit for some reason.

Only thing different today is... i installed the waves gold bundle v5? things were ok this morning for several hours with no problems, but now it seems very unreliable. I have tried trashing databases and repait permission and re-boot! but i have client here and don't want to trash prefs right now.

Thanks Jeremy, i don't have Altiverb though!!

I did also install revibe demo amd DINR demo??

Guess i'll have to try taking todays installed plugs out the folder!

Hi,

I know the problem. It mainly happens to me with large sessions that contain NI´s Battery and Kontakt RTAS Plug-Ins.

Especially sessions that I updated from PT 5.3 to PT 6. Pro Tools will quit when I close the session.

When I rebuilt one of those sessions from scratch, everything was O.K.

I'm new to this whole forum thing, so I don't know if I went to the right place, or if anyone will see this.

My problem, is that my system crashes, when I double click the Pro-Tools 6.7 icon on my desktop, to start a session. I just got this stupid thing, and it's just giving me problems. The protools guys, (over the phone), told me that I needed to get a new motherboard, and processor. I figured, I may as well go for the gold, and redesign the whole system. Now, I have a 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor, and a D-FI 939 motherboard, running with NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra chipset. 2 GB DDR Ram. I even got a new case. I followed everything to spec, but it took time to save the money for the upgrades, being that I dropped all of the cash on this Pro Tools Digi 002.

Now, it seems that the problem is worse, since the software causes my system to crash, when I try to run it. The hardware works great, when I use it as a 3rd party mixer for the "Alt SRC to MON." I went to the control panel, and did a repair, inserted the disc, and all that crap, but it still crashes. This is the only application that does this, but my computer is 3 times faster, and more powerful, than it was before the upgrades I did.

I'm pretty savvy with a computer, but I don't know why this software doesn't want to work. I hope that it is just a simple fix, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, and knows a fix for it, please let me know. I don't know how this forum works, but here's my email address, if anyone know's what's going on.

Welcome to the DUC. You did the right thing by joining and posting.

However, since you posted in the Mac/TDM forum - and you are using a 002 PTLE on Windows... you'll probably have a better chance of finding someone who can help you if you post to the appropriate section.

Try going to the PTLE Windows forum and re-post your question where Windows experts who use PTLE hang.

Did you try trashing the Digidesign Database folders on every drive?

Hi,

I think it was a combination of things, but not totally sure, but all this happened with a few hours...

It is exactly 14 days to the minute that i installed Tiger and it seems that quite a few of my plugins were running as demos and suddenly needed to be authorised on this day! plus i had installed the waves musicians bundle in the morning!!

I made sure all my plugs were re-authorised and un-installed waves and installed them again and also did all the usuall trash prefs/data base's and repair permissions and it seems to be settled for now.

Saying that, i have been treading carefully as i have clients breathing over me!! so see how it goes in the next few days.

Phew! don't want too many days like that one
