Default Tascam TM-D4000/Digi002r

Greetings all-

It's finally come time- I keep losing work 'cause I don't know Pro Tools. And you'd think learning to splice 2" tape in '82 would've prepared me enough!
I am thinking of purchasing an 002r and a new PC- currently running tape and hard-drives but want to
finally learn Pro Tools...some of the threads concerning the 002r are starting to freak me out though. I run a semi-professional studio (I know I know- but it's 1600sqf, with tuned rooms with an
actual "control" room and not in my basement ;-)) and work as an acoustical consultant for a arch firm during the day.
SO, with all that, I do want something that will not offer too many problems- and work within my limited professional studio. I will be starting two new paid albums within weeks- one of which will be transfering 2" tape to Pro Tools LE for vocals/guits and then possibly mixing at a larger facility. Two questions as a total newbie:

Am I nuts hoping this set-up and changeover will be smooth and successful?

Will the 002r work at all with my Tascam Tm-D4000 (which I spent 6 mos researching only to purchase and have Tascam discontinue weeks later...argh!)? I would still like to use the tascam for the faders alone if anything...

Thanks for putting up with me...

I could never get the TMD4000 to work as a control surface for PTLE. I spent several days futzing with it, and then found a great buy on a SAC2K.
If you have an ADAT card, you could use the 8 micpres from the Tascam for the ADAT in into the 002r. If you have that and an analog card, you could stem out to the 4000 as an outboard mixer. But you really wouldn't be gaining anything doing that, since you would still be mixing digitally. And using the analog card would be putting you through another conversion process.
BTW, I love my 002r, and have had not one problem since I got it.

I also have a TM-D4000, and it works just fine as a control surface. I just set the TM-D4000 to emulate a JL-Cooper CS-10, connected the MIDI in's and out's to my MIDI interface, and selected CS-10 in the periphals menu of Pro-Tools. Works like a charm.

The Kid.
