Default newbie seeking advice about order

Hi all,

just wanted to get an opinion about the order you typically mix (garage-punk band). i try to get the drum channels individually & collectively first followed by the bass & then the geetar. then try to mix them all together. vocals last. does that make sense??
the vocals & the drums seem to be the hardest to mix... is that what you find???
any plugz you think are worth mentioning here please do - we just have the basics
