Exactly. It's still 99% what's being recorded that makes the track.. So easy to get caught up in plugins (I have myself gone too far). Hits were made on those 'old" plugins with worse converters etc many years ago..

Low latency DSP monitoring requires AAX-DSP plugins.
Looking for an effects rack with DSP capabilities

like:

Sound Toys effect rack
Slate's VMR

with reverb + delay capabilities

unlike the 6050

I'm not sure you'll get all of those in a DSP strip. Do you need the Reverb + Delay for performers to monitor themselves? If so, you can put them on an Aux or two, route your input channels to them via Sends and make those Auxes DSP-SAFE. That way, they won't affect the delay of your recording channel and main output. They will be slightly delayed, but if your performer is hearing their dry signal real-time through the rerecord channel, it's generally not a problem.

As for the other channel strip kind of things, I believe that most of the Plugin Alliance console strips are AAX-DSP compatible. Not the AMEK 200, which is a shame, but their Neve, AMEK 9098, SSL and Focusrite strips are. Avid's Channel Strip is as well, but I don't particularly like it either, so I won't suggest that one.
