Firestudio Project aux output problem
Hey guys...first post here because I'm in need of a little help. I use a Presonus Firestudio Project with Pro Tools 11 and I'm trying to create headphone mixes to send out to my headphone distribution unit through the eight general purpose outputs on the back. My problem is that in Pro Tools I create my Aux track, set the input to Bus 3, set the output to DAW rt. 3, and then send the tracks I want in the mix to it but I still hear the main mix through the headphones. The general purpose outputs on the back are simply sending the main mix through them and not functioning as separate outputs that I can send things into. I know it is possible to use them as separate outputs and Presonus Tech support hasn't been very helpful. They said to look at Universal Control to make sure the monitor mix has been turned off for those outputs and it indeed has to which they then said to contact Avid because they didn't know. Any help you guys could give me would really, really be appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your time. Nico |

Re: Firestudio Project aux output problem
Are you on Windows or Mac?
Which OS version; Win 8, OSX 10.? Are you using the latest Universal Control; 1.7.2? I have the same interface and can try it, just want to make sure our systems are similar. Thanks |

Re: Firestudio Project aux output problem
I'm on the latest version of Mavericks on a Mac with the latest version of Universal Control. A better way to phrase the question would be, are you able to access the Main Outs and general purpose outs 1-2 separately or do they have to be used in conjunction with each other?

Re: Firestudio Project aux output problem
Thanks, I also have the latest version of Mavericks. I probably won't be able to get to this tonight, but I'll post back as soon as I give it a try.

Re: Firestudio Project aux output problem
The main outs and the general purpose outs 1-2 are identical. The only difference is that the main out volume is controlled by the front panel knob.
You are going to have to use 3 through 8 if you want separate mixes. I tried the scenario using the sends on each channel to route to outputs 3-8 and I was able to make independent headphone mixes. I'm sure it will work using Aux tracks too. |

Re: Firestudio Project aux output problem
I am having the same problem with this setup using Presonus Studio Artist. The only General Outputs that seem to work for this purpose are 3 and 4. Outputs 5-8 deliver the entire mix, and 1,2 have to be set aside for the main mix, which makes zero sense to me, since there is a Main Out, which is what is connected to the speakers.
Of course, I need 3 headphone mixes, not two. Stuck. Hoping someone can help. BTW, this is all brand new, just installed yesterday. So I'm a newbie. |
