Can't Force Quit PT or Shutdown Mac

Hey guys,

Last few versions, every now and then I can't seem to quit or even force quit Pro Tools so therefore it's impossible to shut down the Mac...has anyone seen this or knows what to do? I've even force quit any apps to do with AVID from the Activity Monitor, but no go...

Even though it appears that I have force quit the app, it still shows as open (see screenshot)...any help with this much appreciated.

Mojave - it's a 2018 Mac Mini, but I've now seen this happen on other computers - all with Mojave installed...this never happened before.

Anybody find an answer to this problem? PT is in freaky limbo. it won't open, but it shows up on the force quit list, but won't force quit. Computer won't shutdown!
Of course i can hold down the power button on the mac ....but why is this happening?

Pro Tools won't open because part of it's already running.

Can you close sessions OK?

What exactly happens when you try to quit from within Pro Tools?

I would try some of the usual things, including trashing prefs and removing all the .aaxplugin files for a test and trying a different playback engine.

The Pro Tools log file may give a clue what is happening.
