For $199 you get a ton of stuff... all those tasty VIs and content. But if you're a PT vet it's probably a workflow learning headache.

I'm open-minded and may have open-wallet. Gonna think on it. I kinda like the Track Stack folders/summing thing, MIDI FX --- there never was a lot of friction to get basic scratch demos going in Logic, but every time it came to Mixing I fled to PT. I just really have to decide if all that is compelling enough to go back to a compositional Logic / Mix in PT workflow. I was kind of planning to dodge that now that 11 is 64-bit.

You know I had some time...and I was surfing the website and either it's my starved Vi self (PT11) or it really does sound like a deal..with all the VI's -

What does everyone think of the Guitar emulations? The synths sound great. The base emulations all had the Di sound right up front.....Didn't like it.

Unless I missed something, the guitar stuff hasn't changed since V9. V9 was hyped as being a guitar players dream, I haven't spent a huge amount of time with it, but I didn't find any of the guitar stuff as fun as some of my old digitech guitar FX boxes from the 90's were back in the day.
EDIT: Nevermind I guess there are a few new guitar effects. This article has a much better description of the new features than apple's site:

I'm interested to try the new score editor though and see what kind of results it gets on export.

I downloaded I had a quick skim through the manual....as before, it looks a great app for composing...but, still no automation trim mode.....no undoing of fader moves...no VCA's....AVID can sleep safe..

Yep -- my take as well. Love the content and VIs are nice, but it's still completely emphasized for composition. The mix workflow is largely unchanged (I do like the Track Stacks summing, were I to do a rough mix of a lot of tracks in Logic I would go that route) but I don't ever see it reaching studio edit/tracking/mix sweet spot the way PT does. Avid can definitely sleep safe on the tracking/mixing in big and medium size studios. Bedroom Producer revenue, however, may take a bit of a hit from folks not caring about PT's superior mixing/editing capabilities. But Avid doesn't consider Home Studio folks any kind of cash cow at this point, anyway.

Ironically, I noticed that this new version of Logic features gain reduction meters in the mixer channels. Perhaps a little poke at Avid (who has made this an HD only feature).

You know it all starts out with a little poke and then ends up.......well you know

Don't see why they would want to have a toolkit wouldn't give me this functionality for extra money (from vanilla) aside from making the HD guys feel like they're getting a really superior piece of software to work with oh well
