Default AMD Athlon XP processor compatible ?

I recently got a new PC (Amd Athlon XP processor, 768MegsRam, WinME, KT133A chipset - recommended), and am having lockup/freeze problems with PT Free -- I hope it is just a sound card issue. I would like to know if anyone has had success with this processor; Digi says they haven't tested this chip yet.

I really would like to get Digi-001, but I need to know if this processor will make it uncompatible. If anyone has any input/comments, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.

Take out at least 256 megs of ram (i would take out 512) and then try again.

I built a new DAW using the XP1700 and the Soyo K7V Dragon Plus. I wound up having to play around with the BIOS settings and disabling the e-net and onboard sound to get really stable performance.

That is a great combo you have and it works great with Digi001. The A7V133 seems to work the best in that KT133a class. There were some people that had problems with the Abit board and had to disable the onboard Raid. The XP processors work great also and are the best performers. Check out PT Performance thread.
Good luck.

Hi,
I was working privately with a P4 user who was having a host of problems. He had 768MB. After trying everythng else, I asked him to remove 256MB. All his problems went away.

I run 512MB. I don't suggest you run more. You won't need it for PTLE anyway.

Mark
