Default I remember those Hobos

We are moving well into DAW folklore...

Yes son, I remember those Hobos, they even wrote songs about 'em... It was quite a time indeed. America was a different place then, no ADC, the Hobos battling the Core folk for the glory of victory. Yes son, you've grown up in an all Native world, but it wasn't always that way. The TDMmers were big then, they would sing and dance poke fun at what would soon become the way of the land. Yes son, he said with a nostalgic tear in his eye, the Hobos, the last of what real men were born to be... the Hobos.

having said that, just about 6 months ago I bounced about 30 two-track masters to digital and every one of the leders just fell off, so I had to get out the old block and make my own out of Scotch Tape. That was fun

I have a 2" machine sitting behind me every day with a splicing block and razor blade ready to go. I do remember when that was all that I had... no PT, just SMPTE with a few flying faders. Those were the pre-Hobo days.

And yes son, there were times even before the reign of the Hobos where rock and roll heroes did it all on magnetic emulsion fixed to a long Mylar strip that wound onto bobbins spinning from one side to the other passing over sensors that replayed the wonderful performances of old.

I still use my 4 track Fostex from school for writing at mates' houses when there isnt a digital recorder. I'll admit one rec head is half stuffed, but it does the job. Havent bounced or spliced in (cough) years though.

I love listening to the 4 track mashups on Sublime's old material. Brad Nowell - the human sequencer. too bad he had a thing for opiates

Mike.
