PT Studio Renewal code not working

Hi All,

I'm using PT 2020.5.0 - I haven't actually updated to the new version PT Studio . Purchased my yearly EDU renewal (identit-e etc all up to date) but the code doesn't work for me. Having it looked into by Avid here in Australia at the moment but just thought I'd check.

Is this possibly due to the fact that I've purchased a 'Studio' renewal and I'm still running 2020.5.0? I thought this was now considered 'Studio' but perhaps for the purpose of registering/renewing I need to actually update?

Hi. I have no clear answer for you, but a couple of thoughts; first, what you have installed is irrelevant. The license on your iLok account is what matters. I also haven't upgraded for a while, and my license says 'Pro Tools Studio Perpetual'. So the name of the license changed without me doing a thing. I also have a redemption code that I'm saving for the right time, and then I'll download the latest version and the splash screen will say 'Pro Tools Studio', I expect.
A 'Pro Tools Studio Perpetual' license wil work for any installed version of PT from 12 and up.


I hope Avid works it out for you. I get a little worried for my own code, I must admit.

The 'what you have installed is irrelevant' is the answer I was hoping for :) Then it's hopefully just an issue with the code and I can get a new one etc.

Just the process of actually getting it sorted that seems to take forever (often seems to be the way with Avid?).

I dread the renewal coming around each year as there always seems to be an issue (not to sound like one of those sensationalist whingers!).

I heard back from Avid Australia and as you mentioned the version is irrelevant so waiting to hear further in terms of a new code etc.

I checked your account and you've successfully renewed your Pro Tools Studio EDU until 2023 using the EDU renewal code that you've purchased. With this, you have access to the latest version Pro Tools 2022.5 if ever you needed to do an upgrade.

We actually renamed our product based on the current tiers we offer which started last April 24, 2022. Right now based on the product that you own that falls under Pro Tools Studio.
