Default Exprtng Multpl Session Markers 2 ONE MASTR SESSION

Our post production house is attempting to gather all of the assets for multiple dialog sessions for a feature length film. We are trying to import multiple sessions' markers and assets to a MASTER session. However, once the first satellite sessions' assets and markers have been imported, we are unable to import BOTH the assets AND the markers from a second. We can get the assets, but the markers will not import.

Importing the markers in the first place is no problem, creating a MIDI file on the satellite session, exporting the MIDI file, and importing the MIDI information to the master...the functionality of how to import markers is not the problem...to clarify, it is a matter of being unable to import markers from a SECOND satellite session into the MASTER session which has the imported markers form the first imported session already in place.

Any suggestions and/or solutions?

Respectfully,

-B

a) Pro Tools will only import Markers into a session without Markers.

b) How many Markers total will you want in the Master Session?

c) Do you have any other apps which can import Standard MIDI Files to merge the markers from all the source sessions?

d) Do you have a Windows system available (I could whip something together to merge multiple Standard MIDI Files together).

Unforntunately, I did find this infornmation in the answerbase. I am definitely aware that we are asking for alternate routes, as per your question about MIDI editors...I think that would be the best area to focus on for a solution.

I am sure there would end up being more than 200+, considering we are talking about multiple hour-long sessions combining to one master dialog session.

Our question that we have struggled with is wether or not we can do this via text edits or must it be a MIDI specific program. Any word on this would be incredibly appreciated.

We are exclusively Mac here, which is good/bad depending on your p.o.v.

Please, if you have any more information on the MIDI editing side, I am all ears!!

Many many thanks for the information already supplied, keep it coming!!

It would have to be done using Standard MIDI Files which would have to be edited via programming or a HEX Editor.. but wouldn't be something you could probably do without knowing the SMF format.

If you email me all the SMF's I can perhaps merge them for you (I'm stretching myself thin today so time may be an issue).
