What do you want to do with this?

It is extremely unlikely any manufacturer would deliver ability to simultaneously/dividable multiple host a Thunderbolt interface.

For simpler exclusive access between two hosts on a bus, maybe for failover redundancy, you could try it. That would likely take some easier engineering but it is also not documented anywhere AFAIK so expect it will not work either.

No, multiple computers won't work over thunderbolt, but you can have one connected via digilink, and another via thunderbolt, or several via Dante.

Active simultaneously? Otherwise why bother

No. Only one port can be connected to a host (computer.) The other port is part of the thunderbolt standard to daisy chain another device (hard drive, etc). But all devices are using lanes that come from the single host system.

No I meant combination of the options. Especially what I am interested in is Dante. I don't know nearly enough about it, but if it could connect two systems simultaneously and in some magical way split the interface between the two, that would be amazing. But I am not holding my breath, these are usually designed to be single host.

However, just to complicate things a little further. Not sure if the OP was asking it in this way but I think you could use two different computers with the MTRX if one of the computers was using an HDX card connected to MTRX and the other computer was connected via Thunderbolt to the MTRX.

EDIT. thebeatless is saying the same thing.

Simply being able to switch between hosts without unplugging stuff, failover if the Mac fails etc.

It's not unreasonable to ask for a bunch of different scenarios, esp give the ease of confusion about Thunderbolt (and/or USB) capabilities, abilities to have multiple hosts on a Thunderbolt bus for some operations etc. Intel's awful productization/rollout of Thunderbolt Share etc. Knowing exactly what the OP is trying to do/what problem they want to solve may help answer the question a lot better.

Folks have already pointed out Dante and other options here. If Dante just try to avoid DVS, get to Dante via something else. ... maybe another MTRX Studio... which if high availability is a goal has a nice story.

As others are pointing out, the MTRX Studio works independent across Thunderbolt, Dante and DigiLink, with I/O assignment and routing controlled by DADman. You can control Dante routing to/from any other Dante devices on the network. Pretty much split up Dante however you want. It's all very impressive.

You can use the MTRX Studio with more than one computer simultaneously.
One way is treating it as a standalone converter — each input used with any machine. DADman doesn’t care.
Second way is you can use each digilink port with a different computer. You just have to set each port to primary in DADman. That gives each system 32 ins/outs via digilink and both computers will see the same MTRX studio as its primary interface.

Both work.

(And with a full-size MTRX you can do more. I have one room with 3 computers using one MTRX. Each get 4 digilink ports — 5 addin cards are used. And then DADman is used to route audio between systems in the CON section.)

Oh Avid and DAD did such a damn good job with these products. I'm still wishing for a MTRX Studio with MADI (... OK Boomer, yes I know won't ever happen). Yes I know about the DAD AX Center.
